Why Do We Actually Sin Day 3

5Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Every sin is rooted in unbelief. That may sound crazy. You may think, “Even when I sin, I still believe in God.” That’s not what I mean. I mean that when we sin, we are making a public declaration that our hearts believe something other than God can satisfy our deepest feelings of lacking and desire.
By looking at Jesus’ teaching about anxiety from the Sermon on the Mount, I explain how unbelief about God’s true identity is the cause of every single sin we commit. Therefore, only by allowing the Gospel of Jesus to change what we believe about God will we ever kill sin at its source.
