From, ‘The Spiritual Life Journal. (Journey)’. (A personal journal entry- May 24, 2014.) By Timothy Baugh for April 8, 2019.

Freedom of choice and independence of belief or thought, when wrongly exercised, can be a dangerous thing! For those early Christians; going against the status quo labeled them as a threat. They were treated as “traitors” and “rebels”, revolutionaries against Organized Religion of the day; and Government Imperialism of the time. This became a ‘Death Sentence’ for many who would not surrender or submit to the authority and rule of Rome and its Caesar.   Today, although we may have laws in place to insure us of a ‘Freedom of Speech’, ‘Religion’, and ‘Conscience’; we daily surrender our “Freedom of Choice and Independent Thought” to the influence of others who hold the power to control us in one way or the other. From the Internet, to Television, to printed media: our minds receive an ongoing barrage of incoming data and information to which we open the floodgates of our “entire being” to. Once open, the river of crud washes over us; drowning us and leaving us feeling helpless and used. Haven’t we all “been there”? I know that I have!       “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; (Have a steadfast faith and complete confidence in God with wholehearted devotion) and lean not unto thine own understanding. (and don’t rely upon how well you think you know yourself.) In all thy ways acknowledge him, (Under every circumstance, in all situations put him first) and he shall direct thy paths.” (and he shall show you the way. Proverbs 3:5-6. (with my own insights added.)
