Finish Strong

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.”

Hebrews 6:10-11

To serve is to love and to love is to serve. This is how Jesus loved the Father by serving His people. Laying aside His garments, His rights, and His glory, God’s only Son girded Himself about, took up the towel and basin and kneeling there before twelve ordinary men, one of whom would betray Him, He began washing their feet. Jesus was able to wash the feet of His enemy because those feet became the feet of God in His hands. Service is no ordinary act as viewed in the eyes of God, it is God centered, God focused and God honoring always. It’s a pouring out of love unto the God Who has loved you so much that He Himself became your servant, taking on the form of flesh and walking the road to Calvary.

It’s easy for Christians to see themselves as children of God because they have such great benefits! But how many of us see ourselves as servants? Every child of God is called to be a servant of God. Too often we want all the benefits without the servant hood because that would involve surrendering all our rights. You cannot acknowledge your own rights as a servant of God because they are non-existent. When this takes place, we are then, and only then, able to pick up the towel and basin in order to serve others. Jesus said, “A servant is not greater than His master.” If Jesus was a servant, then how much more should we be?

How are you loving God with your life beloved? It’s not in position, time, money or even our seeming sacrifices themselves that we love God but rather it’s in our serving Him through whatever position or means He avails to us. God tells us to show diligence in our service until the very end. In other words, finish strong! Don’t let up precious child of God knowing that God will never forget your service unto Him. If you look on the horizon through spiritual eyes you catch a glimpse of the coming glory of your Lord and Savior coming for you and His reward is with Him!
