DAY 4: God Wants Us To Know His Will

How do we properly discern and interpret the direction that we are to go in, the people whom we are to be surrounded by, and the adventures that we are to embark on? We must begin to answer this question with one basic premise: God wants us to know His will more than we want to know it! He is not withholding information or guidance from us. In fact, He has provided multiple platforms upon which to communicate His desires for our lives.

Religious spirits have enforced a false image of God as a distant being, someone who is far off, shrouded in mystery, and far too advanced for simple human beings to understand. Embracing this false thinking about the Lord makes it difficult for us to believe God for direction and receive His leading. The heart of God throughout the ages has always been to draw us, His beloved, close to Him! In fact, all throughout Scripture He communicates His willingness to be near to us in all seasons.

It is time to change our thinking, renew our minds, and break the lie that God is distant. He is right here! Our loving Father has an abundance of wisdom and guidance for us.

DAY 3: The Importance of God’s Words

Each and every insight that God provides for you is important. The result of the revelation will often be determined by your reply and response. If you just think on it for a day or two and then let it go, you will probably miss the full effect of the oil on that word. If you write, record, and then go back to it with prayer and seeking strategy, you will keep pressing that word and extract the oil.

Sometimes you are struggling and need a breakthrough. God will send a word to you that contains bondage-breaking power. It may not be a word that has long-term application but is sent for that very moment. Some words frame times and seasons. There have been times in my life that I keep pondering a word over and over, and each time I got more application. It becomes a mission statement for a season of my supernatural journey.

There are other words that are very specific and hold instruction for a particular assignment. All of these things must be prayed out and discerned. This is why recording, writing, and praying over supernatural revelations is so critical. To become a person who walks in the supernatural, you must learn to place emphasis and value on insight and revelation.

The Submission Debate

“Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:22

There’s no quicker way to disrupt a festive gathering of Christian women than to bring up the topic of submission. Before you know it, friends start facing off to launch passionate discourses on all sides of the issue. Either that or they laugh contemptuously. Yet God’s direction on the subject is clear: “The head of every man is Christ, and the head of every woman is man, and the head of Christ is God” (1 Corinthians 11:3).

Each of us submits to a higher authority. Consider the boss at work or the IRS agent at tax time. They are our equals as people, yet we submit to them because they have authority over us when they assume certain roles. A wife submits to her husband in the same manner. You both are equally valued, equally important partners—yet your roles are different. Furthermore, submission cannot be understood or appreciated apart from the other half of the prescription found in Ephesians 5:25, which requires a husband to love his wife as Christ loved the church, to the point of giving up his life for her. There is no room for inconsiderateness, oppression, or domination here!

As a wife, you are asked to submit to the leadership of your husband. As a husband, you are told to sacrificially love and cherish your wife. It is the divine plan for marriage and family.

Just between us…

  • How do we define a wife’s duty to submit to her husband?
  • (wife) How well do you think I follow God’s direction in this area? How can we help each other with submission as defined by God?

(wife) Father, I admit, submission doesn’t always come easily to me. But I accept Your wonderful plan for our marriage. Today I look for Your abundant blessing as I wholeheartedly support my husband as the head of our marriage. Amen.

Are You Discouraged or Devoted?

utm

…Jesus…said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have…and come, follow Me.” But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich.  Luke 18:22-23

Have you ever heard the Master say something very difficult to you? If you haven’t, I question whether you have ever heard Him say anything at all. Jesus says a tremendous amount to us that we listen to, but do not actually hear. And once we do hear Him, His words are harsh and unyielding.

Jesus did not show the least concern that this rich young ruler should do what He told him, nor did Jesus make any attempt to keep this man with Him. He simply said to him, “Sell all that you have…and come, follow Me.” Our Lord never pleaded with him; He never tried to lure him— He simply spoke the strictest words that human ears have ever heard, and then left him alone.

Have I ever heard Jesus say something difficult and unyielding to me? Has He said something personally to me to which I have deliberately listened— not something I can explain for the sake of others, but something I have heard Him say directly to me? This man understood what Jesus said. He heard it clearly, realizing the full impact of its meaning, and it broke his heart. He did not go away as a defiant person, but as one who was sorrowful and discouraged. He had come to Jesus on fire with zeal and determination, but the words of Jesus simply froze him. Instead of producing enthusiastic devotion to Jesus, they produced heartbreaking discouragement. And Jesus did not go after him, but let him go. Our Lord knows perfectly well that once His word is truly heard, it will bear fruit sooner or later. What is so terrible is that some of us prevent His words from bearing fruit in our present life. I wonder what we will say when we finally make up our minds to be devoted to Him on that particular point? One thing is certain— He will never throw our past failures back in our faces. The Light of Truth. (or Why is it that we can’t trust ANYTHING of ourselves?) By Timothy Baugh. https://thesurrenderedone.wordpress.com

“And they (the Apostles and Jesus) come (came) to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the Temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders, and say unto him, By what authority do thou these things? And who gave thee this authority to do these things? (Why not question themselves and their own intentions? Where do they believe THEIR AUTHORITY came from?) And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will ask of YOU one question, and answer me, and I will tell you (directly) by what authority I do these things. ”   “…. And Jesus answering said unto them, Neither “DO” (not neither WILL) I tell you by what authority I do these things.” John 11:27-29 and 33. (King James Version with my own emphasis added).       When it is obvious that we all do that that which is in line with our OWN intentions often; When CAN we ever “trust” ourselves entirely? Indeed! Others? Nah, not entirely.  The Light of Truth will always affect us this way. Want to just quit? How hard it is to give up the “soul-searching” inquiry into our TRUE “SPIRITUAL” CONDITION. So…. how does one possibly decide? IF WE ARE CHRISTIANS, we will realize that “Legalism” and “Rigid Perfectionism” is IMPOSSIBLE for us to humanly live up to. BUT WE HAVE THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST TO HELP US. This much, is what will spur us on to want to totally please God in all we do. The world is not doing this! They are trying to fool everyone. Even themselves! BE TRUE.
