Matthew 4:1–11

Temptation comes to us in so many forms: juicy gossip practically begging to be passed on, your co-workers or children pushing you to the end of your patience, images in movies that you should never allow yourself to see in the first place. You probably know your own personal weaknesses, but do you know how to battle them? When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus responded with God’s Word. He combated temptation by naming Satan’s lies and then holding on to God’s truth. You can only use that strategy if you know God’s Word—and that’s the only sure weapon against temptation.
