Hope Beyond the Grave
“He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken.” Isaiah 25:8
Have you experienced the pain of losing a loved one? I remember the night my grandfather went home to be with Jesus; I was in the room with him when he died. Soon afterwards, we learned that my grandmother had a fast-growing cancer. Five months later she also went home.
Many tears were shed at their funerals because they were deeply loved. But in the midst of the mourning, there was a spirit of even greater hope and celebration. God graced us with His presence, and our souls were comforted. With each Scripture that was read or sung, His promises rang out in our hearts, giving us strength and sustaining joy. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4).
The Word of the Lord is a healing balm to the broken heart. His voice beckons the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18) to come and find rest and shelter in Him. Pour out your grief to your Savior and allow His Word to soothe your soul. Who better to comfort our hearts than the One who made them and the One acquainted with all our sorrows?
1 Corinthians 15:51-57
Christ defeated death; those washed in His blood have hope beyond the grave. Nothing can separate us from His love (see Romans 8:38-39)!
