He Is a Person
“The word became flesh” – John 1:14
Keep reminding yourself: He is a person. He knows and can sense the difference between willing cooperation by a man of compliance. One is “want to” connect and relate; the other is “have to” comply. There’s a huge difference. The Holy Spirits voice should be welcomed, needed, and respected interruption for us. No matter the situation, issue or moment. Being disposed and ready to listen means increasing measures of life and peace for God’s man. Resenting, ignoring or muting his voice, results in chaos and destruction personally, spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.
The enemy of God and man put great energy into persuading you to not think in these terms. God’s thinking on your relationship with the Holy Spirit is straightforward: “Sense we live by the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). God’s Man cannot afford to play nickel poker with the Holy Spirit when the stakes are life and death. That is why all of us must face the control issues in our lives honestly, squarely, and biblically. We simply must ask who’s in control. The answer is either (a) or (b) the Holy Spirit.
Maybe you can relate to this dynamic. When I want, I don’t want to think. When my mind is made up, I have direction and a set of expectations. I don’t want anyone slowing down my process or hindering me from getting what I want. It’s called having your mind made up “come hell or high water.” That is why we have to make a commitment to God’s will in advance of our day –to-day battles and in a strong way frequently and privately with Him. My impulsive decisions are not best,: they usually give me a hangover of conscience.
Thank you Father for reminding me to be prepare for all my decisions.
