Encounter with Jesus – September 29

A life of integrity

PSALM 15.1-5

In the book of Psalms, King David describes the life of integrity that believers must cultivate. God wants us to seek more and more authenticity, righteousness, and honesty.

To develop and maintain a lifestyle of integrity, we need:

Base our faith on what the Bible teaches . The fundamental truths on which we must build our lives are: humanity’s need for a Savior; our inability to save ourselves; the death of Christ on our behalf; salvation by faith alone; and the Father’s free gift of eternal life. Our identity and priorities must flow from our position as adopted children of God.

Submit to the lordship of Christ . The Lord Jesus commands us to deny ourselves and to follow him (Mark 8:34). Sincere commitment to Him will help us face temptations and choose the right.

Establish relationships with people who value the Christian life . The influence of mature believers strengthens us in our dedication and obedience to the Lord.

Acknowledge our mistakes . Everyone fails, but as believers we must confess to God any known sin and avoid doing the wrong thing ( 1 Jn 1 .9). It will also be necessary to ask others for forgiveness.

We live in a culture that applauds sinful values and attitudes. God knows our struggle to resist temptation and choose to do what is right, and so he sent his Holy Spirit to teach us to live with integrity. Ask Him to help you become more like the person described in Psalm 15.
