Encounter with Jesus – October 8

God works within us

EPHESIANS 3.20, 21

Let these words slowly sink into your understanding: “powerful to do all things far more abundantly than we ask or understand” (v. 20). What a wonderful description of God’s ability to work within us!

But very often our focus is primarily on what we want Him to do for us. If God changed this situation or fixed that problem, then my life would be better. But He invites us to think and ask for something greater: He wants to transform us !

The Holy Spirit has more than enough power to change us on the inside, but making that inner change is generally a slow process. Spiritual fruit takes time to grow and mature. This is why we need patience and faith to believe that He is working, even when we don’t see results right away. God is never in a hurry, and He will never leave us.

The Lord has a purpose for our lives, and He constantly works to achieve it. Although he has a specific plan for each of his children, he also has a higher goal: to conform all believers to the image of his Son Jesus Christ. To achieve this, he will make us experience struggles and anguish. This may not make sense to us, but God knows exactly what He is doing.

What would you like to see the Lord doing inside of you? As you read the Bible, look for the qualities that God considers precious, and ask Him to develop them in your life. Then trust his wonderful promise that He will do more than you have asked or imagined.
