The achievement of an understanding mind
Knowing that the test of your faith produces patience.
James 1: 3
Never doubt that testing will accomplish something positive. They are intended to produce “patience” or, better translated, “endurance” or “perseverance.” With each trial we forge the tenacity of spirit that stands up under pressure as we patiently wait for God to remove the trial in due time and then reward us. That makes us stronger as we get more resistance.
God builds us up in the same way that a runner gradually develops the ability to run long distances. He starts with the most insignificant and works his way up to the maximum capacity. God allows greater trials in our lives to increase our endurance for greater service and joy, for the more difficult the battle, the more pleasing the victory. When you come out of a difficult trial, you can rejoice in the deliverance God has given you. That proves that He can be trusted, and that strengthens your faith.
