” If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, though just as by fire” (1 Corinthians 3:15).
In a thousand years, some of the things that you think are very important now will not be so important: your meticulously mowed lawn, who won the Super Bowl championship, the date of the prom, the make and model of your car. Now, there is nothing wrong with these things, but I want to ask you: What is there in your life that will remain when the mountains collapse? When do the stars fall from their orbit? Wood, hay, stubble will burn up in flames! However, “if anyone’s work that he built on it remains, he will receive a reward” (1 Corinthians 3:14). Things will look very different in light of eternity.
Are you an investor – not in stocks, bonds, or real estate – but in the souls of men? If not, let me motivate you, or better still, let me encourage you to invest your time, talents, and treasures in those things that matter most to God.
