The importance of positive relationships
HEBREWS 10:23, 24
The topic of positive relationships is close to my heart, because God has given me very good friends. They are the people who challenge me to do more for the Lord. My friends love me, but they are definitely not happy that I stay the way I am! If they detect a sin in my life or see something I could do better, they tell me.
Paul also placed a high priority on relationships. The apostle surrounded himself with people who could help him achieve two things: the fulfillment of the mission that God had given him, and his conformity to the image of Christ. As Paul spilled himself into the lives of others, he too was being edified and strengthened by his fellow believers. That, in short, is the Lord’s plan for each of his children.
And you? Do you have certain relationships that motivate you to seek God more earnestly? It is very important to know who we allow to influence our lives. Heavenly Father prepares your other children to invest in you, as his brothers in faith, to encourage you, to pray for you, and to encourage you to have a fuller faith, so that you are prepared to dedicate yourself to service. to others. Good relationships with people who build each other can help believers fulfill God’s plan for their lives.
The best relationships arise between people who encourage each other in faith, and for this reason “[they stimulate one another] to love and good works” (He 10.24). In other words, our best friends are the ones who love us despite who we are, but never stop challenging us to do better for the Lord.
