Treasures of the Word – November 17

Treasures of the Word Devo Banner

November 17

WRITING:

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly handling the Word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

BIBLICAL TREASURE:

When men built the Temple in the Old Testament, the Bible tells us that God gave them a spirit of wisdom. Some translators have called it a spirit of “skill or talent” because these words are tightly intertwined. Do you know what it is to live wisely? It is living skillfully making the most of your life. Whatever your job – an artist, a doctor, a carpenter, an accountant, a teacher or a mother – live your life skillfully. Thinking about going to a vocational college or university for a degree? So don’t fail to study and gain knowledge, but remember this: All our knowledge apart from God’s wisdom is just splendid ignorance.

ACTION POINT:

When was the last time you studied the background history of God’s Word? Go to a bookstore or your church library and study how translations were discovered and passed on to other generations.
