Daily Food – November 19

Christ is our advocate

The Lord directs the ways of man when he is pleased with his way of life. – Psalm 37:23

Many people mistakenly believe, even living a dissolute life and far from what God says in his commandments, in the end he will still forgive them. But thinking like this is a total lack of responsibility. On the other hand, the fact of being sinners should not lead us to despair, believing that there is no forgiveness for our mistakes.

Jesus Christ is our advocate before God. But he does not try to prove our innocence, but rather presents his justice, achieved with his sacrifice on the cross, as the basis for our absolution. And God accepted that sacrifice of Christ who, with his death, redeemed the sinful world. But this is not something automatic, but forgiveness and life are given to those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives.

PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, praise you that you have sent your son Jesus to be my Savior, and also that of the whole world. Open the hearts of those who do not yet know you, so that they receive the Word of eternal life. Amen.
