Noah Found Grace
Ephesians 2: 8-9
“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not by works, so that no one can boast. “
As creationists, we spend a lot of time working on our models about how we think the flood might have happened, developing new models. The old vapor canopy model has long been replaced by more biblical and more scientific models, such as the catastrophic plate tectonic theory or the more recent tectonic vertical impact theory.
What we must not lose sight of is the reason why God sent the flood. The reason for the coming of the flood is given in Genesis 6: 5. “And the LORD saw that the wickedness of men was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” If God had chosen to destroy everyone and everything, it would have been fair to do so. But, God also has a plan of salvation, which we read about in Genesis 6: 8 which, in my opinion, is the most beautiful verse in the first chapters of Genesis.
But Noah found grace in the eyes of Jehovah.
Hebrews 11 tells us: “By faith Noah, when he was warned by God about things that were not yet seen, fearfully prepared the ark in which his house would be saved; and by that faith he condemned the world, and was made heir of the righteousness that comes by faith . ” Then it continues that Noah was saved by grace through faith. And, in Ephesians 2: 8 he reminds Christians: “For by grace you have been saved through faith.” There has been only one method of salvation – by grace, through faith. We only have a little more knowledge than Noah, so we know Who acquired that salvation, and how.
Prayer: Thank you Lord, for the salvation that your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ, bought us. Amen.
