The Biblical Way – January 27

Read Exodus 29

In today’s reading:

Instructions for priests and sacrifices; the continual burnt offering; the altar of incense; the rescued souls; the oil of the holy anointing; regulations for the Sabbath; Moses receives the two stone tablets of testimony

The priests, who ministered in the tabernacle, had to be clean before entering. «The Lord spoke more to Moses, saying: You shall also make a bronze basin, with its bronze base, for washing; and you shall place it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it. And Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and feet from her “ (Exodus 30: 17-19). After the priest washed his hands and feet in the fountain, which provided cleansing from the activities of daily life, then he was able to enter the tabernacle and through the twisted linen veil, which was the only entrance to the holy of holies.

Outside the holy of holies, on the right side was the table of the Presence with its 12 unleavened loaves (cakes) sprinkled with incense. The name “Bread of the Presence” suggests more than something nourishing for the body. This implies that there was a spiritual discernment there, which could not be obtained anywhere else. The bread was symbolic of Christ, who said: “I am the Bread of life. . . . I am the living Bread that came down from heaven; If anyone eats this Bread, he will live forever ” (making it an indispensable part of his life) (John 6: 48,51; 6: 29-38; 12:24). Just as daily food is assimilated to maintain our bodies, in the same way, when we continue to read the Word of God, which is the bread of life, the Holy Spirit illuminates and then transforms our lives.“Putting away, then, all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all detractions, desire, like newborn babies, the unadulterated spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation” (I Peter 2: 1-2 ).

On the left side, in front of the table of the Presence, was the candlestick with seven lamps made of a hammered piece of pure gold. The lampstand provided the only source for lighting the holy place (Leviticus 24: 2-4).

God has provided only one book – the Holy Bible – as the source of light for understanding His will in our lives (Psalm 119: 105,130; Proverbs 6:23).

Jesus Christ tells us: «. . . I am the light of the world; Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life ” (John 8:12).

Thought for Today:  Ignoring God’s Word always leads to deception.

Memory Verse of the Week:  Psalms 100: 5

The not-so-great effervescence

The not-so-great effervescence

Genesis 1: 14-15
“Then God said: Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night; and serve as signs for the seasons, for days and years, and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth. And it was so. “

The late Stephen Hawking was a very bright man whose brain activity was such that he outweighed his severe physical disability caused by motor neuron disease. In his last piece of research before his death in early 2018, he applied his mind, as always, to his ideas of the Big Bang, and, in particular, to the inflation model, which I and others have referred to as the great effervescence.

Briefly, the Big Bang theory does not explain the uniformity of phenomena such as cosmic microwave background radiation. Many astrophysicists have postulated an extremely rapid inflation of the universe, in its initial fractions of a second, to try to explain these problems. Unfortunately, the unpredictable characteristics of the inflation metric give rise to the idea that our universe is just one of an infinite number of universes, called a multiverse. This is very much like a magic formula because in an infinite multiverse, anything can happen somewhere. In fact, it is even suggested that inflation could be eternal in some of those universes.

Hawking put his mind to these questions and surmised that the model was too complicated. He said, “We predict that our universe, on a large scale, is reasonably smooth and globally finite.”

While creationists do not accept the Big Bang theory, it is interesting that Hawking has at least come to the conclusion that the universe is not infinite. Biblically speaking, only God is infinite. It seems more logical to us to assume that the universe is finite and completely under God’s control.

Prayer: You are the Almighty God, the only God, the eternal God. Thank you for creating this universe and placing ourselves in it to work, subdue and manage it for Your glory. Amen.

What I Learned in a Florida Hurricane – Love Worth Finding – January 27

What I learned in a Florida hurricane

JANUARY 27

Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

I was raised in South Florida, in what you might call hurricane alley. When we knew a hurricane was coming, my dad would say, “Boys, go out there in the back yard and tie things down,” patio furniture and things like that. Sometimes we would go out after a hurricane, and the thing we tied down was gone and the thing we tied it to was gone!

Friend, you’d better be tied to Jesus. He won’t blow away. Where is your hope?  Where is your security?  What have you anchored your hope to? Put your hope in the solid rock, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Truth For Today – January 27

January 27th

Something of eternal value

I wish to see you, to communicate some spiritual gift, so that you may be confirmed.

Romans 1:11

Some years ago a young woman from our church, who was a student at a city college, said to me, “I learned a great lesson from one of your sermons on love. I always thought I loved the little girls in my Sunday school class. fourth graders. They all have little ornate dresses and the cutest smile. “

She went on to say, “One Saturday I was at a soccer game at my school, something I do every Saturday, and the Lord pointed out that this was not the right way to prepare for my Sunday school lesson. How I attended the games on Saturday. I was in the habit of teaching a lesson on Sunday morning that was very superficial. God pointed out that I did not really love those little girls as I thought, since I did not sacrifice anything of my own life to give them something of eternal value. “

She ended our conversation by saying “So from now on I will not attend any other soccer games until my lesson is finished and I feel like I can impart something of eternal value to you.”
