Feel what God feels
Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
Romans 14: 8
I remember a young woman who learned to feel pain when God was not honored. He left a small town in West Virginia to go live with a student at UCLA. Shortly after, he kicked her out. She wandered around and tried to kill herself several times, but each time she survived. My sister and I met her and had the opportunity to lead her to Christ. Shortly after that she decided to return to her hometown to tell her mother and friends about Christ.
Several months later, he wrote me a letter. This is some of what he wrote:
“I can almost feel the unbearable sadness that God feels when someone rejects him and does not glorify him. He is God! He made us. He gave us everything. We keep doubting and rejecting him. It is horrible! When I think about how much I hurt him, I hope that one day I can make up for that.
“It is very clear to me that God must be glorified. He deserves it, and for a long time. I long to say to Christ, and thus indirectly to God, that I love him. I want God to be God and to take the place he deserves. I’m sick of seeing people downplay it. ”
